Dr. Aneez Shaikh

Dr. Aneez Shaikh is a consultant ophthalmologist with more than 11 years of experience specializing in vitreoretinal surgery and cataract procedures. He trained at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, one of India's top medical institutions, and completed his ophthalmology postgraduate qualification at LTM Medical College, Mumbai. He holds fellowship credentials from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) and the UK College of Ophthalmologists (FICO), and has undergone specialized training in vitreoretinal surgery at Shri Ganapati Netralaya in India.

Dr. Shaikh has performed over 1,000 cataract surgeries using modern phacoemulsification (keyhole) techniques under topical anesthesia, and a similar volume of vitreoretinal procedures including pars plana vitrectomy (25 and 23 gauge), scleral buckling, pneumatic retinopexy, and intravitreal injections (Lucentis, Avastin, and Ozurdex). He treats complex retinal conditions including diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity (a condition affecting premature infants' eyes), and eye trauma, using both microsurgical techniques and laser therapy.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Shaikh has worked with global health organizations including the WHO and ORBIS on blindness prevention initiatives in India. He serves as faculty for the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology and recently led a telemedicine project screening diabetic patients for diabetic retinopathy, while training general practitioners in patient grading and referral pathways.
