Dr. Vinod Varghese

Dr. Vinod Varghese is a Consultant Neurologist at NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain, with 12 years of clinical experience in neurology and general medicine. He completed his MBBS in 2002 and went on to earn his MD and DNB in General Medicine from Medical College Trivandrum, India. He then pursued specialized training in neurology, obtaining his DM from NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in Bangalore—one of India's premier neurological institutes—followed by the Specialty Certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and a Fellowship from the European Board of Neurology in 2019.

Dr. Varghese has broad expertise in managing complex neurological conditions. His clinical skills include stroke management with thrombolysis (clot-dissolving therapy), botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders, needle electromyography (EMG) for muscle and nerve problems, epilepsy management, and advanced brain monitoring tests such as EEG, nerve conduction studies, and specialized electrical tests (VEP, SSEP, BAER). He is also trained in procedures like lumbar puncture, muscle and nerve biopsy, and pressure monitoring.

Before joining NMC Healthcare, he worked as a consultant neurologist in private hospitals across the UAE and as a consultant in general medicine at Medical College Trivandrum, where he also taught undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil.
