Dr. Adam N. Mather

Dr. Adam Mather is a consultant interventional cardiologist with extensive training in the UK at Newcastle and Leeds universities. He completed his specialist cardiology training in 2011 and went on to train as an interventional cardiology fellow at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, one of the UK's largest centres for this work. Before joining Mediclinic, he spent nearly five years as a consultant interventional cardiologist at the East Yorkshire Cardiothoracic Centre in Hull.

Dr. Mather is fully competent in general cardiology and manages conditions including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart failure. He specialises in coronary intervention — keyhole procedures to diagnose and treat narrowed heart arteries that cause angina — and is experienced with advanced heart imaging including CT and MRI scans. He also has experience in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), a minimally invasive procedure for valve replacement, and in renal artery sympathetic denervation for resistant high blood pressure.

Dr. Mather has a strong interest in medical education and served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School. He is an active researcher with a particular focus on understanding heart attack mechanisms using cardiac MRI, and is recognised as a key opinion leader in this field internationally.
