Dr. Shakir Hussain

Dr. Shakir Hussain is a specialist haematopathologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi with over three decades of clinical experience. He trained in pathology in India and has worked across the UAE, Iran, and India in various laboratory medicine roles, most recently as a specialist in pathology and laboratory medicine.

He specialises in haematopathology (blood and bone-marrow disorders), transfusion medicine (blood transfusions and blood products), clinical chemistry, coagulation (blood clotting), flow cytometry (a laboratory technique to analyse cells), and immunohistochemistry (staining tissue samples to identify disease). His work involves diagnosing blood disorders, managing blood transfusions safely, and analysing complex laboratory results that guide patient treatment.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Hussain has taught haematology as an adjunct clinical lecturer at Gulf Medical University since 2008. He holds memberships with leading international haematology societies and is licensed by both the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and the Medical Council of Rajasthan, India.
