Dr. Hussam Ghalib

Dr. Hussam Ghalib is a Staff Physician in the Cardiovascular Medicine Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He trained at leading American institutions, earning his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completing his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan Health System. He then pursued specialized cardiology training through a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at UCLA Medical Center, where he developed particular expertise in advanced heart failure therapies.

Dr. Ghalib brings 17 years of clinical experience and currently serves as Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support and Director of the Cardiomyopathy Center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. His clinical focus encompasses a range of heart conditions including valvular disease, coronary artery disease, inherited cardiomyopathies, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He is experienced in managing complex cases involving heart transplantation and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs)—mechanical pumps that help failing hearts circulate blood.
