Dr. Wagdy Mikhail

Dr. Wagdy Mikhail is a consultant gastroenterologist with over 30 years of experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and liver disorders. He graduated from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1972, and trained in internal medicine in Kuwait and the United Kingdom before joining Rashid Hospital in Dubai, where he trained in gastroenterology and helped establish the Digestive Disease and Endoscopy Unit.

Dr. Mikhail has performed approximately 25,000 upper endoscopies and 16,000 lower endoscopies throughout his career. His clinical focus includes management of liver conditions such as hepatitis and follow-up care for liver transplant patients, oesophageal disorders (reflux and motility problems), bowel inflammation and irritable bowel syndrome, and colorectal cancer screening. He also offers advanced techniques including video capsule endoscopy and fibroscan (a non-invasive method to assess liver scarring and cirrhosis).

He was secretary general and later president of the Emirates Gastroenterology Society (2007–2009) and has served as a lecturer and clinical tutor at Dubai Medical School for Girls. He regularly attends national and international conferences in his field.
