Dr. Mohamed Aqelah

Dr. Mohamed Aqelah is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NMC Healthcare Abu Dhabi, with 15 years of clinical experience gained primarily in the German healthcare system. He completed his specialist training in Germany, beginning at St. Barbara-Klinik Hamm, a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Münster, where he developed expertise in endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery with a particular focus on gynaecologic oncology. In 2017, he obtained his Facharzt (specialist certification) from the North Rhine Medical Chamber, and in 2021 was appointed as a Consultant at Marienhospital Aachen, a teaching hospital affiliated with RWTH Aachen University.

Dr. Aqelah specialises in minimally invasive surgical approaches to treat both benign and cancerous gynaecological conditions. He is experienced in performing total laparoscopic hysterectomies with salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries via small incisions), laparoscopic sentinel lymph-node surgery using advanced fluorescence technology for gynaecologic cancers, and complex endoscopic procedures for fibroids and endometriosis—including cases with frozen pelvis (extensive scarring from disease). He co-led the Tumorzentrum (Tumour Centre) at his previous institution, focusing on modern minimally invasive management of benign gynaecological tumours.
