Dr. Maria Garcia

Maria Garcia is a physiotherapist with over two decades of experience in rehabilitation and body mechanics. She holds a BSc in Physical Therapy from Velez College, Cebu (2001) and began her career at a private Dubai hospital specializing in spinal surgery, where she worked with patients recovering from spinal procedures and neurological conditions. Since joining Mediclinic in 2009, she has worked across neurology, orthopaedics, and maternity services.

In 2012, Maria identified a passion for lymphoedema management and pursued formal specialization. She completed her Lymphoedema Certification through Foldi Clinic and Klose Training in Germany (2015), followed by an advanced course in Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy (2016). She now specializes in treating swelling disorders of the venous and lymphatic systems in both adults and children, with particular expertise in cancer-related conditions.

Maria's main focus is oncology rehabilitation. She has extensive experience treating breast cancer patients, including post-surgery care, rehabilitation during and after chemotherapy and radiation, and management of cancer-related lymphoedema. She also treats primary and secondary lymphoedema from other causes—trauma, chronic venous insufficiency, infection, obesity, and severe post-surgical swelling—as well as lipedema and palliative care patients.
