Dr. Amirtha Gopalan

Dr Amirtha Gopalan is a rheumatologist with 8 years' experience managing complex joint and autoimmune conditions. She trained at leading Indian medical institutions, earning her MBBS from JIPMER Pondicherry in 2008, followed by specialist qualifications in General Medicine and Rheumatology (DrNB). She recently obtained her MRCP UK qualification in 2024. Before moving to Dubai, she worked as a faculty rheumatologist in India for over 4 years, building expertise in diagnosis and treatment of difficult rheumatological cases using advanced immunomodulatory therapies.

Dr Gopalan treats the full range of rheumatological conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, vasculitis (including giant cell arteritis and ANCA-associated vasculitis), osteoporosis, gout, and sarcoidosis-related disease. She performs joint aspirations and injections, and has completed additional training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and imaging in rheumatic diseases through EULAR courses. Her work includes active involvement in national and international research, with multiple publications and presentations at major conferences such as ACR and APLAR.
