Dr. Mohammed Layas

Dr. Mohammed Layas is a consultant internal medicine physician and director of hospitalist services at American Hospital Dubai. Board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology, he brings over a decade of hospital-based practice experience across multiple major medical centres in the United States, where he managed acute medical emergencies and complex patient cases in high-acuity settings.

He specializes in treating acute internal medicine conditions, with particular interests in acute heart and kidney disease. Dr. Layas has expertise in managing acute chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma exacerbations, as well as electrolyte imbalances and acid-base disorders—conditions that require rapid assessment and specialized knowledge. Throughout his career, he has been involved in quality improvement, peer review, and critical care protocols.

Dr. Layas is drawn to internal medicine because it allows him to develop deep relationships with patients and approach their complex medical problems holistically.
