Dr. Mahmoud Abdelghany

Dr. Mahmoud Abdelghany is an interventional cardiologist and endovascular specialist with extensive training across Egypt and the United States. He earned his medical degree from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine and completed initial cardiology training at Maadi Military Hospital and Cairo University Hospitals. He then pursued comprehensive fellowship training in the USA, including internal medicine at Temple University/Memorial Medical Center, general cardiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University, peripheral vascular intervention at Yale University, and advanced structural cardiology at Boston University Medical Center.

Dr. Abdelghany specializes in treating heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral vascular diseases through minimally invasive catheter-based techniques. His expertise spans coronary and structural interventional cardiology, endovascular procedures for leg and circulation problems, echocardiography (heart ultrasound), and nuclear cardiology. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and two textbook chapters, and serves as an editor and reviewer for leading journals including Circulation and the Journal of the American Heart Association. In 2018, he was recognized for performing the first SHOCKWAVE® venoplasty worldwide.

Dr. Abdelghany values direct patient impact and combines his clinical practice with academic teaching. He has held associate professor positions at both Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he trains medical students while caring for patients. He is American board certified in internal medicine, general cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
