Dr. Laila Salem Alghafri

Dr Laila Alghaferi is an ophthalmologist with 18 years of experience in general eye care across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, supported by a decade of focused training in oculoplastic surgery—the surgical specialty dealing with the eyelids, tear ducts, and eye socket. She completed her medical degree at UAE University's Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, followed by specialist training in ophthalmology through the Saudi Board programme in Riyadh and an oculoplastic fellowship at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital.

Dr Alghaferi treats a wide range of eye conditions and performs specialized surgical procedures. Her oculoplastic expertise includes eyelid surgeries (correcting drooping lids, inturned or outturned eyelids, and misdirected lashes), tear-duct obstruction repair, eyelid lesion removal, botox injections for eyelid spasms, and trauma repair including lacerated eyelids and tear ducts. She also manages orbital conditions such as eye removal when necessary, along with general medical eye disorders.

Throughout her career, Dr Alghaferi has worked at leading institutions in both countries: Al Ain Hospital, Tawam Hospital, and Sheikh Tahnoon Medical City in the UAE, as well as King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and King Abdelaziz University Hospital in Saudi Arabia. She is now based at Mediclinic Al Ain.
