Dr. Mohamed Samy Elhammady

Dr. Mohamed Samy Elhammady is a Staff Physician in the Neurosurgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Neurological Institute. He brings over 20 years of clinical experience and extensive training from leading academic centres. Before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Miami, where he directed the Minimally Invasive Cranial Neurosurgery programme and co-directed neuroendovascular and skull base surgery services.

Dr. Elhammady specializes in the full spectrum of neurovascular disease (including stroke-related conditions and vascular malformations), complex brain and spinal cord tumours, and degenerative spine conditions. He completed three specialized fellowships in neuroendovascular surgery, open cerebrovascular and skull base surgery, and minimally invasive endoscopic techniques for brain and spine tumours at prestigious institutions including the Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery in Sydney. He is co-founder of the University of Miami Cerebrovascular Initiative, a research collaborative developing novel treatments for vascular and brain disorders.

Dr. Elhammady is an accomplished researcher and educator, with more than eighty peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews to his name. He holds American Board certification in Neurosurgery and is recognized for his teaching contributions, having received multiple awards for clinical excellence and research innovation during his time at the University of Miami.
