Dr. Azza Bunna

Dr Azza is a psychiatrist with more than 30 years of clinical experience across the Middle East. She trained at Cairo University Hospital (Kasr Al Ain Hospital) as a resident and intern, then spent 20 years working in both government and private hospitals in Saudi Arabia before returning to Cairo for three years. Since 2015 she has worked as a specialist psychiatrist with the Ministry of Health in Sharjah, and joined Mediclinic Al Jowhara Hospital in March 2022.

Dr Azza treats a wide range of mental health conditions across all age groups. In adults, she manages mood disorders (including depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma and stress-related conditions including post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. She offers psychotherapy alongside medication management. In children and adolescents, she specializes in autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, behavioural problems, communication and speech disorders, and anxiety-related conditions including school phobia and separation anxiety.

Beyond general psychiatry, Dr Azza has particular expertise in women's mental health—covering premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy and post-delivery mental health, menopause, and relationship counselling—and geriatric psychiatry. Her approach combines pharmacological treatment with talking therapies to support patients across the lifespan.
