Prof. Francesco Serino

Prof. Francesco Serino is a vascular and endovascular surgeon with 37 years of medical experience, including 32 years as a specialist. He trained at the Catholic University School of Medicine in Rome and completed his surgical residency at La Sapienza University of Rome, where he later served as Assistant Professor of Surgery. His career spans Italy, the United States, and the Middle East, establishing him as a leader in vascular surgery innovation.

Dr. Serino pioneered Italy's first diabetic foot surgery program while at Catholic University Hospital and later founded Rome's first endovascular program and multidisciplinary diabetic foot unit. He has performed over 8,000 vascular interventions and led the Vascular Service at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi before joining HealthPoint. His clinical expertise encompasses limb salvage techniques, aortic endograft surgery, hybrid procedures that combine open and minimally invasive approaches, therapeutic angiogenesis (stimulating new blood vessel growth), and gene therapy for vascular conditions.

Dr. Serino is recognised as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University and has published 257 peer-reviewed articles. His research leadership at Rome's Explora Research Laboratory has secured substantial funding for cardiovascular tissue engineering.
