Dr. Strahil Kotsev

Dr. Strahil Kotsev is a consultant anesthesiologist at Dubai Health with over three decades of clinical experience. He trained in Bulgaria, Ireland, and the United States, earning his MD from Medical University Pleven in 1987 and completing specialist anesthesiology training at Sofia Medical University. He holds the European Diploma in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care (EDAIC) and a Master of Science from the National University of Ireland, and undertook advanced research training at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Kotsev has worked across multiple healthcare systems, including roles at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Beaumont Hospital in Ireland before joining Dubai Health Authority in 1997. He has been a consultant at Dubai Health since 2005. His clinical focus includes general anesthesia for major procedures, perioperative care, and managing complex airway cases, with particular expertise in difficult intubation scenarios and emergency airway techniques such as percutaneous tracheostomy.

He is well-suited for patients requiring anesthesia for complex or emergency surgery, those with anticipated difficult airways, and individuals needing perioperative anesthetic management in a high-acuity setting.
