Dr Bernard Lallemand is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience, with more than 16 years of exclusive focus on hand and upper limb surgery, nerve reconstruction, and microsurgery. He completed his residency in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University Hospital of Liège in Belgium in 2005, then built his expertise across Europe. At the European Hand Institute in Luxembourg, he led the SOS Main Luxembourg emergency service—accredited by FESUM—providing round-the-clock care for hand and upper limb trauma, and trained over 500 surgeons worldwide.
Since 2015, Dr Lallemand has worked at Aspetar (accredited as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence), where he developed the region's leading hand unit for sports injuries affecting the wrist and hand. He holds an Assistant Professorship of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and has performed over 12,000 surgeries across Europe and the Middle East. He relocated to the UAE in late 2019, bringing this depth of training and surgical volume to Mediclinic.
He treats the full spectrum of hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries—from simple sprains to complex fractures, tendon tears, and degenerative conditions. His approach combines arthroscopic keyhole techniques with open reconstruction and microsurgery (nerve grafts, bone transfers) when needed. He is well suited for athletes with sports injuries, patients with occupational hand conditions, and anyone needing precision nerve or tendon repair.
Special interests: hand and wrist sports injuries, microsurgical nerve and tendon repair, hand trauma, football and sports medicine.
