Dr. Waseem Aziz

Dr. Waseem Aziz is a consultant neurosurgeon and chair of the neurosurgery department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. With 23 years of experience, he is a distinguished clinician and academic with extensive training across leading international institutions. He graduated from the University of Alexandria, Egypt with his medical degree in 1998, completed his master's in surgery in 2003, and earned his PhD in neurosurgery in 2010. His postgraduate training includes a fellowship in skull base surgery, endovascular neurosurgery and neuro-anatomical studies at Keio University in Japan (2005), training at the Foundation A. Rothschild in France, and a research fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in the USA (2009). He was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Alexandria in 2018.

Dr. Aziz specializes in a comprehensive range of neurosurgical conditions affecting the brain and spine. His expertise spans brain tumours, skull base tumours, pituitary tumours, cerebrovascular diseases (including aneurysms and vascular malformations), and functional conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasms, and occipital neuralgia.
