Dr. Werner Gerntholtz

Dr. Werner Gerntholtz is a Staff Physician in the Emergency Medicine Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute. He holds an MD from the University of the Free State in South Africa and is board certified in Family Medicine (CCFP) and holds a Certificate of Special Competence in Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. With over 22 years of clinical experience, he has built a career spanning emergency departments, hospital-based acute care, and family medicine across Canada and the UAE.

Dr. Gerntholtz's clinical expertise covers emergency medicine, hospital medicine, trauma care, and acute critical care. He has managed diverse patient presentations in high-acuity settings at major hospitals including Surrey Memorial Hospital in Canada and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. Beyond direct patient care, he has been actively involved in teaching—serving as a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia and Core Faculty at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, helping to train the next generation of medical students and residents.
