Dr. Firas El-Khatib

Dr. Firas El-Khatib is a consultant neurologist at American Hospital Dubai with extensive training across Germany's leading neurology centres. He completed his medical degree at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, known for its strong neurology programme, and trained as a resident at major German hospitals including the University Hospital of Münster—home to one of central Europe's largest stroke units—and Maria-Hilf Clinics in Mönchengladbach. During his residency he also completed 18 months of specialised psychiatry training, giving him broad insight into neurological and mental health conditions.

Dr. El-Khatib has developed particular expertise in neurophysiology—the testing and measurement of nerve and brain function. He is certified by the German Society for Clinical Neurophysiology in EEG (brain electrical activity testing) and EMG (muscle and nerve testing), and led the EMG and nerve conduction laboratory at Klinikum Lüdenscheid, where he trained junior doctors in these diagnostic procedures.
