Dr. Shafik Sidani

Dr. Shafik Sidani is a Staff Physician and Section Head of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Digestive Disease Institute, where he also directs the robotic surgery program. He holds a Clinical Assistant Professor position at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine in the US. With 21 years of experience, Dr. Sidani trained at leading institutions including Yale University, Georgetown University Hospital, and the University of Minnesota before serving as Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center.

Dr. Sidani specializes in minimally invasive surgical treatment of colorectal cancer using laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He has particular expertise in robotic surgery for colorectal cancer and sphincter-sparing surgery for low rectal cancer—procedures that preserve bowel function. He established the colorectal surgery Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program at both Virginia Hospital Center and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, which helps patients recover faster after surgery.
