Dr. Hassan Siegfried Abou-Rebyeh

Prof. Dr. Hassan Siegfried Abou-Rebyeh is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi with over three decades of clinical experience. A German national fluent in English, Arabic, and German, he brings international expertise to a diverse patient population. He studied medicine at the Free University of Berlin, completing his medical degree in 1980, followed by a PhD in Infection and Microbiology in 1989. He later earned an MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care from Oxford University in 2009, and held Associate Professor appointments at both Charité University in Berlin and UAE University in Al Ain.

Prof. Dr. Abou-Rebyeh specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology, and interventional endoscopy—the use of specialized cameras and instruments to diagnose and treat problems in the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and bile ducts without open surgery. His clinical expertise spans gastroscopy (stomach camera), colonoscopy (bowel camera), enteroscopy (small bowel examination), ERCP (treatment of bile duct stones), capsule endoscopy (swallowed camera), cholangioscopy (bile duct visualization), and endoscopic ultrasound (detailed imaging from inside the gut).

He has authored 34 original publications and 28 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, written six book chapters, and presented his work at over 200 international medical congresses. He also serves as a reviewer for international endoscopy journals, demonstrating his standing in the field.
