Dr. Shaik Irfan Basha

Dr. Shaik Irfan Basha is a Consultant Otolaryngologist and Head & Neck Surgeon with 29 years of experience across the Gulf and UK. He trained in the UK (obtaining FRCS qualifications in otology and head-neck surgery) and held leadership positions at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he was Head of the ENT Division and Assistant Professor at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences. He is now based at Burjeel in Abu Dhabi, where he previously served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Head of ENT at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.

Dr. Basha treats a broad range of ear, nose, throat and thyroid conditions in both children and adults. His key clinical interests include paediatric airway disorders, swallowing problems, cochlear implantation, endoscopic sinus and skull-base surgery, and thyroid cancer management. He performs routine and advanced otology, rhinology, pituitary surgery, thyroid and parathyroid procedures, and laser ablation of thyroid nodules. He directs the Cochlear Implant Program and leads the thyroid cancer service.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. Basha chairs the institutional Ethics Committee and is actively engaged in quality improvement, audits, research and teaching. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals, co-authored a chapter on radiation-induced thyroid cancer, and is a regular invited speaker at national and international conferences.
