Dr. Mohammed Abdelrehman Mohammed Shalaby

Dr. Mohammed Shalaby is an Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. With over 17 years of clinical experience, he leads the Adult Extracorporeal Life Support (ECMO) Program and serves as a key member of the Abu Dhabi ECMO taskforce. He trained extensively in Saudi Arabia, where he pioneered extracorporeal life support programs, and now brings that expertise to the UAE healthcare system.

Dr. Shalaby specializes in both veno-venous (VV) and veno-arterial (VA) ECMO—a technique that temporarily takes over heart and lung function for patients with life-threatening conditions. His focus areas include severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), massive pulmonary embolism, septic shock, and emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation (E-CPR). He combines technical skill in managing these complex machines with deep knowledge of anesthesia and critical care medicine.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Shalaby is an Assistant Professor at Mansoura University, where he trains the next generation of anesthesiologists and critical care doctors. He is well-suited for patients requiring specialized life support during severe illness or high-risk surgery.
