Dr. Jeffrey N. Weiss

Dr. Jeffrey N. Weiss is a Specialist Ophthalmologist at Saudi German Hospital in Dubai with over 40 years of clinical experience. An American physician, he is the former Chief of Retinal Surgery at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, where he was also a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He obtained his medical degree summa cum laude at age 23, alongside a degree in electrical engineering, after entering college at 16 on full scholarships.

Dr. Weiss specializes in retinal surgery, medical retina, retinal vascular disease, ocular stem cell therapy, neuro-ophthalmology, and hyperbaric medicine. He pioneered retinal vessel cannulation—a surgical technique that remains the only option for patients with severe stroke in the eye—and was the first to use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat dry age-related macular degeneration. In 2010, he performed the world's first retinal stem cell surgery and now leads the Stem Cell Ophthalmology Treatment Studies I/II, among the largest retinal and optic nerve stem cell studies globally, registered with the NIH and listed on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Dr. Weiss is a prolific author of over 100 publications and 28 books, holds more than 23 U.S. and international patents, and has served as a visiting professor and lecturer worldwide.
