Dr. Patrizia Porcu

Dr Patrizia Porcu is an established radiation oncologist with over 15 years of clinical experience across breast, gastrointestinal, head and neck, prostate, brain, gynaecological, skin and thyroid cancers. She trained at La Cattolica University in Rome (graduating 2005) and completed specialist training in Radiotherapy and Oncology at La Sapienza University, Rome. She is now an Adjunct Associate Professor of Oncology at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences (MBRU) in Dubai.

Dr Porcu specialises in precision radiotherapy techniques including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiosurgery, intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT), proton therapy and carbon-ion therapy. She combines these advanced techniques with chemotherapy to treat all types of malignant disease. In 2010 she received a grant from the European Institute of Oncology in Milan for a clinical research project on hypo-fractioned (shorter-course) radiotherapy in breast cancer, becoming a recognised expert in intraoperative radiotherapy for breast-conserving treatment.

Dr Porcu has worked as a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at Royal Free Hospital in London and collaborated closely with the European Institute of Oncology and the Italian National Centre for Hadrontherapy. She was registered on the UK General Medical Council Specialist Register in 2016 and led oncology-focused multidisciplinary team meetings and departmental protocol development. She has published multiple articles and participated in clinical trials focused on breast, prostate and gastrointestinal cancers.
