Dr. Carole Cherfan

Dr. Carole Cherfan is a consultant in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus with specialized training from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA. She completed her medical degree and ophthalmology residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon, where she also gained extensive clinical experience. Dr. Cherfan has worked at leading eye hospitals in the region, including Beirut Eye & ENT Specialist Hospital, and currently practices at American Hospital in Dubai.

Her clinical expertise covers the full spectrum of children's eye problems and eye muscle disorders. She evaluates and treats lazy eye (amblyopia), eye misalignment (strabismus) in both children and adults, double vision, and childhood cataracts. Dr. Cherfan performs all types of strabismus surgery in children and uses advanced techniques including adjustable sutures for adult patients aged 16 and older. She also manages tear duct blockages and conducts comprehensive eye examinations with detailed eye movement testing.

Dr. Cherfan is a strong educator and mentor, holding instructor positions at Lebanese University and Hôtel Dieu de France. She is active in international pediatric ophthalmology, serving as a board member of the Lebanese Ophthalmological Society and maintaining memberships in the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the International Strabismological Association.
