Dr. Gokul Sathyarathnam

Dr. Gokul Sathyarathnam is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at NMC Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi with 16 years of clinical experience treating adult cancer patients. He completed his medical degree (MBBS) at Trivandrum Medical College in Kerala, India, and pursued specialist oncology training at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, where he achieved his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). He holds MRCP qualification from the UK and is board-certified in Medical Oncology.

Dr. Gokul treats a broad range of solid cancers—lung, breast, gastrointestinal, liver and bile duct, gynaecological, and genitourinary cancers—using chemotherapy, immunotherapy (which harnesses the immune system to fight cancer), targeted therapy (drugs tailored to specific cancer mutations), and hormonal therapy. His approach is patient-centred, with treatment plans tailored to each person's specific condition and needs.

He is fluent in English and Malayalam and speaks working-level Hindi, enabling him to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Before joining NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi, he worked as a medical oncologist at James Cook University Hospital in the UK and held consultant positions at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Sheikh Shakbout Medical City in the UAE.
