Dr. Shamsheer Kote

Dr. Shamsheer Kote is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Medcare Hospital, Al Safa and Medcare Dr. Saeed Al Shaikh Gastro and Obesity Centre in Dubai. He trained in the UK, earning his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in India, followed by fellowship and membership credentials from the Royal College of Physicians, London, and specialist certification (CCST) from London. Before moving to Dubai, he spent many years as a consultant at East and North Herts NHS Trust and affiliated hospitals in England, and later worked at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital and as an Assistant Professor at MBRU in Dubai.

Dr. Kote treats a broad spectrum of digestive conditions, from heartburn and food intolerance to inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and liver, gallbladder and pancreatic disorders. He manages common symptoms including bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, rectal bleeding and abdominal pain, as well as anorectal conditions and fatty liver. He is experienced in diagnosing gastric and colorectal cancers, diverticular disease and coeliac disease, and uses advanced techniques including video capsule endoscopy, paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He also offers non-surgical weight loss strategies and treats swallowing difficulties and other complex conditions that may need second opinions or multidisciplinary care.

Dr. Kote believes strongly in patient education and self-management to reduce medication dependence. He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, the Royal Society of Medicine London, the European Association for Study of Liver Disease, and serves as a medical advisor to the UK's National Association of Crohn's and Colitis.
