Dr. Mohamad Istanboli

Dr. Mohamad Istanboli is a Consultant Neurologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, bringing over 15 years of clinical experience. He trained in neurology at the State University of New York and holds four American board certifications covering general neurology, vascular neurology, sleep medicine and neuroimaging. Since 2004, he has worked across multiple major hospitals in the United States, including positions as a lead consultant at Kentucky's largest healthcare group, before joining SSMC.

Dr. Istanboli manages a wide range of neurological conditions through both outpatient clinics and inpatient care, with particular expertise in stroke and cerebrovascular disease, sleep disorders, and neuroradiology. He performs procedures in the neurophysiology laboratory and has conducted research on blood-vessel growth factors in low-oxygen conditions, work relevant to stroke and heart disease treatment.

He is a strong educator with a stated interest in training junior doctors, residents and medical students.
