Dr. Gilbert Ayoub

Dr. Gilbert Ayoub is a consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon practising in Abu Dhabi. He trained in Germany at St. Marie Hospital Siegen, an academic teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Marburg, where he completed his medical degree and Master's in General and Visceral Surgery. He began his medical education in Russia at KGMU. At St. Marie Hospital, he served as Consultant Surgeon and Deputy Head of Department in a large endocrine and surgical oncology unit, where he developed extensive experience across general, vascular, and thoracic surgery.

Dr. Ayoub's clinical focus spans advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and complex open procedures. He has performed over 600 thyroid operations annually, with particular expertise in thyroid and parathyroid surgery using neuromonitoring to protect the voice nerve. He specializes in hernia repair—umbilical, ventral, inguinal, and incisional—as well as appendix removal and gallbladder surgery. He also manages colorectal conditions with laparoscopic techniques, including bowel resections for cancer and benign disease, haemorrhoid treatment, and anal fissure repair. In thoracic surgery, he performs minimally invasive lung procedures including partial lung removal. He has additional experience in varicose vein surgery.
