Dr. Kamran Mahmood

Dr. Kamran Mahmood is a UK-trained consultant paediatric rheumatologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, with 23 years of clinical experience. He completed specialist training in the UK and previously served as a consultant at Alder Hey Children's Hospital before relocating to the UAE. He is internationally recognised for his academic contributions, particularly in inflammatory bone disease in children.

Dr. Mahmood manages a wide range of conditions affecting children and adolescents, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis (the most common form of childhood arthritis), juvenile lupus, scleroderma, periodic fevers, chronic non-bacterial bone infections, Behçet's disease, and hypermobility syndromes. He has led numerous national and international clinical trials and published over 35 peer-reviewed papers, with work presented at leading conferences including the European Paediatric Rheumatology Society and American College of Rheumatology.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Mahmood is committed to medical education and serves as programme director for the Paediatric Rheumatology Fellowship at SSMC. He has held a formal teaching role with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and regularly mentors trainees and allied health professionals.
