Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani

Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani is Division Chair of Otolaryngology (ENT) at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute, where he also serves as Medical Director for Supply Chain Operations. He is a Clinical Professor at Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. With 21 years of experience, Dr. Shkoukani brings extensive expertise from his previous roles as Associate Professor and Chief of Craniofacial Surgery at Wayne State University, and Chief of Otolaryngology at the John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Hospital in Detroit.

Dr. Shkoukani specializes in treating skull base tumors, thyroid cancer, head and neck cancers, and complex facial reconstruction. His clinical interests span sinus disease, congenital craniofacial abnormalities, facial trauma, skin cancers, and the functional and reconstructive aspects of facial plastic surgery. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in both Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

He completed his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine with high distinction, followed by specialized training in general surgery and otolaryngology residency at Wayne State, and a fellowship in Skull Base and Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Shkoukani remains active in clinical research and has contributed over 30 peer-reviewed publications to leading medical journals. He has been deeply involved in training the next generation of surgeons, having served as Residency Program Director at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
