Dr. Asim Malik

Dr. Asim Malik is a Staff Physician in the Infectious Disease Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he specializes in complex infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria. With 28 years of experience, he has held senior leadership roles including Chief of Infectious Diseases at Mafraq Hospital and Director of Infection Control & Antimicrobial Stewardship at NMC Royal Hospital. His clinical training spans prestigious institutions: he earned his MD from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, completed internal medicine residency at Harlem Hospital Center (Columbia University) in New York, and finished his infectious diseases fellowship at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Malik specializes in treating infections in critically ill and immunocompromised patients, particularly those caused by pathogens resistant to multiple antibiotics. His experience includes managing serious bloodstream infections, bone and joint infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, tuberculosis, meningitis, HIV/AIDS, and sexually transmitted infections. He has also managed novel emerging infections including MERS-coronavirus and Ebola.
