Dr. Asia Mubashir

Dr. Asia Mubashir is a Staff Physician in the Rheumatology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Medical Subspecialties Institute, with 22 years of clinical experience. She trained in internal medicine at NYU Winthrop University Hospital in New York and completed her rheumatology fellowship at the University of Connecticut. She also conducted research training at Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Her clinical expertise centres on autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus (SLE), scleroderma, and Sjögren's syndrome.

Dr. Mubashir has built a distinguished career establishing new rheumatology practices across multiple settings. She served as Medical Director of Rheumatology at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Maine, where she founded the rheumatology division and served on the hospital's Board Finance Committee. She established the Centre for Arthritis and Rheumatism in Kashmir, which served nearly 5,000 patients in its first two years. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, she worked as a rheumatologist at Rheumatology Associates of Baltimore and consulted at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Franklin Square Hospital. She also held an appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and served as a physician to the United States Embassy in India.

Dr. Mubashir is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and maintains active medical licenses in Maryland and Washington, D.C. She has published extensively in leading journals including Arthritis and Rheumatism, the Journal of Rheumatology, the American Journal of Cardiology, the Journal of Nephrology, and JAMA, and has presented her work at the American College of Rheumatology and American College of Cardiology meetings.
