Dr. Nazim AL Rifai

Dr. Nazim AL Rifai is a specialist general surgeon and adjunct assistant professor at several international medical colleges. He holds Syrian board certification and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. With over 25 years of experience in open and advanced laparoscopic surgery, and 20 years specialising in weight-loss surgery, he has performed more than 4,000 bariatric and laparoscopic procedures across academic hospitals in the Middle East.

Dr. AL Rifai is dual-certified in excellence for bariatric and laparoscopic surgery by the American Surgical Review Corporation. He treats obesity through both surgical and non-surgical approaches, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass variants, and revision procedures for patients who need adjustments to previous surgery. He also manages abdominal wall hernias, acid reflux with hiatus hernia, and performs minimally invasive gallbladder removal.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. AL Rifai is deeply involved in medical education as faculty at colleges throughout the Middle East and Austria. He has a special interest in integrating the art of medicine with surgical practice, emphasising compassionate, humanistic care alongside technical excellence.
