About Dr. Mohammad Luai Alissa
Dr. Mohammad Luai Alissa is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with extensive training across leading eye hospitals in Europe. He obtained his medical degree from Damascus University in 2000, then completed specialist ophthalmology training in Sweden and the United Kingdom. He is certified by both the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare and the European Board of Ophthalmology, and holds specialist qualifications from Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Mahatma Eye Hospital in India.
His clinical work spans laser vision correction (including SMILE, FS-LASIK, and PRK), cataract surgery, and medical retina conditions such as diabetic eye disease. Before joining American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Alissa spent five years as a Senior Consultant at Linköping University Hospital in Sweden, where he also supervised ophthalmology residents. He simultaneously worked as a Consultant Laser Refractive Surgeon at Lirema Eye Clinic in Stockholm, part of Scandinavia's leading private laser refractive surgery group.
Dr. Alissa is an active member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the European Society of Retina Specialists, and served two consecutive terms on the board of the Swedish Ophthalmological Society. His experience spans both university teaching hospitals and specialist private clinics across Sweden and the United Kingdom.
