Dr. Lilian Karina Julian

Dr. Lilian Karina Julian is an Associate Staff Physician in the Ophthalmology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. With 26 years of clinical experience spanning South America and Europe, she brings deep expertise in complex eye conditions. She previously served as a Staff Ophthalmologist at Austral University Hospital in Buenos Aires and founded the first private-setting uveitis clinic in Argentina at Instituto de la Visión, where she served as head of department.

Dr. Julian specializes in uveitis—inflammation inside the eye—and general ophthalmology. She completed rigorous training including two uveitis fellowships (one in Buenos Aires and a second at the prestigious Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris) and maintains board certification from both the International Council of Ophthalmology and the European Board of Ophthalmology. Her clinical work is informed by extensive research into how genetics and ancestry influence the severity and course of uveitis.

Currently a Professor of Ophthalmology at Austral University School of Medicine, Dr. Julian also serves as a reviewer and associate editor for leading ophthalmology journals.
