Dr. Belma Buturovic

Dr Belma Buturovic is an endocrinologist and diabetologist with more than 26 years of clinical experience treating patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders. She completed her medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Yugoslavia in 1989, followed by specialist training in internal medicine (1996) and a Master of Science degree (1997). She earned her doctoral degree in diabetology in 2005 and passed the endocrinology and diabetology specialization exam in 2010. She was appointed Assistant Professor at the Medical University of Sarajevo in 2006 and promoted to Associate Professor five years later.

Dr Belma has worked extensively in both government and private practice, including serving as head of an endocrinology department for 8 years. She treats a broad range of hormonal and metabolic conditions, from type 1 and type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes to thyroid disorders, adrenal gland disorders, reproductive hormone imbalances, obesity, and neuroendocrine tumours. She has particular expertise in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), male and female infertility related to hormonal causes, and complex endocrine conditions including MEN syndromes and parathyroid disorders.

Dr Belma is a published researcher with several scientific papers and a book on prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. She has served as a key opinion leader for international pharmaceutical companies and was president and organizer of the First Diabetes Congress in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is fluent in English, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Slovenian, and Bosnian, and practises at Emirates Specialty Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City.
