Dr. Teodor Stefanov

Dr. Teodor Stefanov is an Associate Staff Physician in the Anesthesiology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, bringing over 24 years of clinical experience in anesthesiology and critical care. He trained in Bulgaria, completing his medical degree from Sofia Medical University and his residency in Anesthesiology with a focus on cardiac and pediatric cardiac anesthesia at the National Heart Hospital in Sofia. Throughout his career, he has held senior roles at leading institutions across Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, and China.

Dr. Stefanov's clinical expertise spans cardiothoracic anesthesia, pediatric cardiac anesthesia, perioperative medicine, transesophageal echocardiography (ultrasound imaging of the heart during surgery), transfusion-free surgery techniques, and intensive care medicine. He holds a European certification in adult transesophageal echocardiography and was instrumental in developing cardiac anesthesia and perioperative care programs, including work on Bulgaria's largest private cardiac surgery program. He has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring anesthesiology residents and fellows.

Dr. Stefanov is a member of the Bulgarian Association for Blood Transfusion Alternatives and lectures internationally on transfusion-free anesthesia and surgery. He is fluent in English and dedicated to advancing safe, evidence-based anesthetic care for complex surgical patients.
