Dr. Mohammed Elmahy

Prof. Dr. Mohammed M. Elmahy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and specialist in Hand and Upper Limb Microsurgery with over 40 years of international surgical experience. He is an Emeritus Professor at Ain Shams University and continues to contribute to the field through academic work, surgical training, and clinical practice across the Middle East and Europe. He has performed thousands of successful hand and upper limb procedures throughout his career.

Prof. Elmahy treats a comprehensive range of upper limb and hand conditions using advanced microsurgical techniques. His expertise includes complex trauma with fractures and nerve or tendon injuries, congenital hand deformities, obstetric brachial plexus palsy (nerve injury from birth), arthroscopic keyhole surgery of the wrist and elbow, nerve compression problems, and reconstructive microsurgery to restore both function and appearance. He also manages basal joint arthritis, sports-related wrist and hand injuries, and soft tissue tumours of the upper arm.

Prof. Elmahy has supervised numerous postgraduate theses and served as faculty at leading hand surgery conferences on four continents. He is the former First President of the Pan Arab Federation for Societies of Hand Surgery and co-founded the Egyptian Society for Surgery of the Hand and Microsurgery, demonstrating his significant role in advancing the specialty regionally and internationally.
