Dr. Yashaswini Shivashankara

Dr. Yashaswini is a consultant radiation oncologist at Mediclinic Hospital in Abu Dhabi, with over 18 years of experience treating cancer patients. She is the elected Board Member and Scientific Committee Chairperson of the Emirates Society of Radiation Oncology (ESRO). She graduated with her MBBS from MS Ramaiah Medical College, India, in 2007, and completed her specialist training in radiation oncology at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences, obtaining her MD board certification. Her residency thesis focused on image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (internal radiation) for gynaecologic cancers.

Dr. Yashaswini treats a wide range of cancers including breast, gynaecologic, head-and-neck, lung, gastrointestinal, prostate, and brain tumors, as well as lymphoma and pediatric cancers. She uses advanced precision radiation techniques including stereotactic radiosurgery (focused radiation for small tumors), volumetric arc radiotherapy, adaptive radiotherapy that adjusts to patient movement, and image-guided brachytherapy. She is experienced with specialized equipment including Cyber Knife, Gamma Knife, and Accuray Tomotherapy systems. She works closely with multidisciplinary oncology teams to provide integrated care and regularly participates in tumor boards and professional education.

Dr. Yashaswini has a particular focus on female malignancies and complex cancer cases. She has numerous peer-reviewed research publications and has presented work at international oncology conferences. She is an active life member of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India.
