Dr. Soumya Kanakatte

Dr. Soumya Kanakatte is an ophthalmologist with over 12 years of clinical experience in India and the UAE. She completed her Diploma in Ophthalmology in India, where she was awarded a gold medal for her academic excellence, and subsequently obtained her FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons) qualification in Glasgow. She also completed a Fellowship in Glaucoma in India, giving her specialized training in one of the most challenging areas of eye care.

Dr. Soumya manages a wide range of eye conditions, with particular expertise in glaucoma—both the medical management (using medications) and surgical approaches. She performs cataract surgery, pterygium surgery (a common condition where abnormal tissue grows on the eye surface), and specialized laser procedures such as YAG laser iridotomy and capsulotomy. She also treats anterior segment disorders, which affect the front structures of the eye.
