Dr. Roger Gerjy

Dr Roger Gerjy is Director of Robotic Surgery at Mediclinic Middle East, bringing two decades of surgical training and practice from Sweden. Born in Lebanon and based in Scandinavia for most of his career, he has developed particular expertise in minimally invasive approaches to complex abdominal conditions.

He treats the full range of colorectal problems — from haemorrhoids and anal fissures to bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease — using both robotic and laparoscopic keyhole techniques. He is especially known for training other surgeons; to date he has taught robotic surgical methods at 44 hospitals across Europe and South Africa. His early research focus on rectal and anal disorders led to several publications and a PhD in 2008; he remains a sought-after speaker at international surgical conferences.

Dr Gerjy is a faculty member of the European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery and a founding member of the European Society of Coloproctology's training workgroup.
