Dr. Carlos Sanchez

Dr. Carlos Sanchez is a consultant paediatrician and paediatric allergist with over 30 years of clinical experience. He graduated from medical school in Spain in 1992 with an extraordinary award for academic excellence, completed his paediatric training at Cadiz University Hospital from 1995 to 1998, and undertook specialist allergy training at La Fe University Hospital in Valencia. He also trained in molecular allergy techniques at St Thomas' Hospital in London. Since moving to Dubai in 2019, he has been practising at Mediclinic City Hospital and Mediclinic Al Sufouh.

Dr. Sanchez specialises in high-risk food allergies linked to severe reactions (anaphylaxis) and severe asthma in children. Between 2008 and 2019, as Head of the Paediatric Allergy Department at Cadiz University Hospital, he established the region's first dedicated allergy unit and pioneered desensitisation techniques for food-allergic children. He successfully treated cow's milk allergy in 150 children and egg allergy in 50 children using these methods, which now achieve success rates of up to 90% across Spanish hospitals. He provides comprehensive support including allergy testing, lung function testing, diagnosis and treatment of food and drug allergies, and training families in adrenaline auto-injector use.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. Sanchez has been an Associate Professor at Cadiz School of Medicine for over a decade. He chaired the Andalusian Society of Paediatric Allergy, served on the national Spanish Society board, advised a government expert committee on severe asthma, and directed the Spanish Paediatric Anaphylaxis Group, leading publication of Spain's first national anaphylaxis action guidelines. He has authored over 25 international publications and served on scientific journal editorial boards.
