Dr. Taisser Atrak

Dr. Taisser Atrak is an American Board Certified Consultant Neonatologist and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. With more than 31 years of clinical experience, he has built a career advancing neonatal and pediatric care across multiple continents. He earned his medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University and completed specialist training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Missouri, following a pediatric residency at the State University of New York.

Dr. Atrak's expertise spans neonatal intensive care, premature infant management, high-risk newborn care, and pediatric critical care. He has led neonatal units in major U.S. healthcare systems—including Cleveland Clinic Martin Health and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare—and served the neonatal group covering eight South Florida hospitals, including West Palm Beach Children's Hospital and Miami Children's Hospital. In the UAE, he has chaired the pediatrics department and neonatology division at Mafraq Hospital and now leads Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City's pediatrics department.

Dr. Atrak is recognized for his contributions to child health in Abu Dhabi, having received the Abu Dhabi Award and the highest civilian medal from the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. He has also been appointed as the Lead Neonatal Expert by Abu Dhabi's Department of Health, where he guides clinical investigations and training standards.
