About Dr. Taguri
Dr. Abdel Hakim Taguri is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Division Chair of Ophthalmology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. With over 30 years of clinical experience, he holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK. He is licensed by both the General Medical Council in the UK and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, and has contributed to leading healthcare institutions across the UAE, UK, and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Taguri specializes in cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive and laser vision correction, glaucoma management, and anterior segment (front part of the eye) disorders. His expertise covers both surgical and medical approaches to eye disease, with particular depth in complex corneal cases and glaucoma management. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr. Taguri is actively involved in academic medicine, having served as Chair of Ophthalmology at Khalifa University and holding appointments as Adjunct Clinical Professor and Assistant Professor. He is also a core faculty member of the Abu Dhabi Ophthalmology Residency Programme, contributing to the training of the next generation of eye specialists.
