Dr. Irina Sema

Dr. Irina Sema is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medcare Medical Centre, with over 20 years of experience across multiple countries. She completed her MBBS from Altay State Medical University in Barnaul, Russia, and obtained her MD from the Saudi Board in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her career has taken her through clinical training in Russia, clinical practice in India, several years at Security Forces Hospital in Saudi Arabia where she completed her specialist qualification, and a period with the NHS in the UK before joining Medcare in the UAE.

Dr. Sema provides complete obstetric care throughout pregnancy, labour and after delivery. She specializes in prenatal screening and diagnosis, managing high-risk pregnancies, monitoring labour and detecting problems in the developing baby, and handling obstetric emergencies including post-delivery bleeding, eclampsia (dangerously high blood pressure in pregnancy) and shoulder dystocia (difficult delivery of the baby's shoulders). She performs both vaginal deliveries and Caesarean sections, including instrument-assisted deliveries when needed. In gynaecology, she treats infections, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis (tissue growing outside the womb), menopause symptoms, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and fibroids.

Dr. Sema also provides family planning services including contraception advice, and insertion and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants. She works with patients across a diverse cultural background and brings a patient-centred approach to women's health.
