Dr. Elizabeth Cherian

Dr. Elizabeth Cherian is a Consultant Physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at HealthPoint Abu Dhabi, where she joined in 2023. She holds her MBBS from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India, and is American Board Certified and Re-Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Before relocating to the UAE, Dr. Cherian built an extensive career in New York, where she established and led the outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation practice at DocCare, served as Medical Director at Castle Hill Medical (becoming the institution's first female physician in its decades-long history), and worked as a Staff Physiatrist at Island Musculoskeletal Care. She also served as a Consultant Physician at American Hospital Dubai.

Dr. Cherian specializes in the diagnosis and non-operative treatment of nerve, muscle, and bone injuries using advanced techniques including ultrasound-guided injections and electrodiagnostic testing (EMG and nerve conduction studies). She treats a wide range of conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings: low back pain, neck pain, radiating nerve pain, and joint pain affecting the knee, shoulder, elbow, and wrist. She also performs diagnostic procedures and injections for nerve compression syndromes, tendon sheath inflammation, and fascia inflammation. In the inpatient setting, she manages stroke recovery, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries, bringing comprehensive rehabilitation expertise to complex cases.
