Dr. Rita A. Sakr

Dr. Rita A. Sakr is a Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon and Obstetrics-Gynecologist at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah with over 20 years of surgical, clinical, academic, and research experience. She trained in France and the USA, earning her medical degree from St. Joseph University in Lebanon, completing residency in obstetrics-gynecology and breast oncoplastic surgery at Aix-Marseille University, and pursuing a PhD in breast cancer molecular biology in Paris. She also completed a breast fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and studied at Institut Gustave Roussy in Paris. She holds French and European Board certifications and is an American Fellow.

Dr. Sakr's clinical expertise spans breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic breast reconstruction (including lumpectomy and mastectomy with immediate reconstruction), early detection of high-risk breast and ovarian cancer, gynecologic oncology, advanced laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and colposcopy. She performs sentinel lymph node biopsy, axillary clearance, myomectomy (fibroid removal), and cesarean sections. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts.

Having held senior consultant and academic posts at Institut Curie, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris, and as Associate Professor and co-Head of the Breast and Gynecology Care Unit at Sorbonne University, she combines surgical expertise with a commitment to patient advocacy and breast cancer survivorship. She is fluent in English, Arabic, and French.
